Voltage gauge shows low & Battery light on '89
Coming to work this morning I noticed the battery icon/light came on. About one minute later the voltage gauge dropped to approx. 10V or less as viewed on my gauge. I'm not sure what's going. I assume either voltage regulator (if separate), alternator or battery. I don't have the means to check it right now. Since it's Valentine's day I need to stop and pick up the wife's flowers and get home so we can make our dinner reservations after work. If the alternator is going how long will the battery usually run? It cranked as new when I re-fired it after parking. If the alternator is ok and the battery is low as long as it starts I should be ok. I never had a voltage gauge do a sudden drop. Any ideas?

Got home but was watching the gauge drop slowly to just above the 8V mark on the gauge. I put a multimeter on it and just the battery is 12.01V and while running at idle or 2500 RPM it's 12.04V. I'll assume the alternator is taking a dump. Time for a new one.
