I'm going to have the transmission redone in my 93 Fullsize Bronco. I've been trying to figure out which one of the torque converters that I need to order. The 4stud or the 6stud?
I know its the E4OD trans. And the only #'s I can find on the trans. are:
F2TP-HA
PRA-R10
0007839
BD3C1? (cant read the last one, the decal is damaged)
The numbers on the trans are of no help. If its a gas motor, it uses the 4 lug. If its the diesel, its the six lug.
There are two versions of the 4 lug, a high stall and a low stall. If you have a 5.0 or 5.8 you want the high stall. If you have a 460, you want the low stall.
You need to decide what kind of driving you are going to do and get the TC that
matches what you need. For off road and for the increase of your drivetrain lifespan
A lower stall convertor would be better. Most stuff you read about TC are dealing
with the street or the drag strip and is the worst theing to base your choice on, You
need to dig deep and be specific with your wants and the needs of your setup. http://www.lincolnsonline.com/tech/00080.html
I build torque converters for a living and have had really good sucess with the e4od. you can get a variety of stalls in the four stud i also make a 4 stud tripple linning. Just make sure you get one with a bearing under the hub. the major problem with the factory converter is there is a plastic cap against the thrust washer which cracks when the plastic heats up. any questions send me an email
