need advice??

found a 99 ranger 4wd with a 4.0.with auto tranny.only problem is tranny is bad.are they alot to fix or pretty cheap?truck is cheap but ixing might not be.and where is a good place to look for trans or is it not to bad to do yourself?

I have a 1999 ford ranger 3.0 flex fuel had it done at ammco trans 50.000 mile waranty

ok truck has 250,000 miles on it.can get it for 600$plain jane truck4wd reg cad short box.worth it?sounds like the tranny is a bit expensive
