Hi Guys, I need some advise. When I got home from work yesterday and I pulled into the yard, I noticed that the transmission slipped and would not engauge until almost 3K RPM. Today it worked fine cold 18F, but after idleing for 20 minutes, it would not move forward or backward. No noise, no smell, no moving. I let it sit for a 1/2 hour and it was ok, until it warmed up again.
It's a '99 F250 SD with an Auto Transmission. I checked the fluid, the level is good and the color looks good also.
Thanks
Don M.
Do you have bigger tires? bigger tires requires you swap fluids more especially tranny
fluid!! The only way to check trans fluid is the paper towel test, Pull out the dip stick
let the fluid drip off onto a paper towel laid flat, clean DS put it in a bottle of fresh
and let the same number of drops fall on the paper towel, The old fluid is probably
sitting there in about the same spot and a darker color then the new fluid which by
now should already be spread out a considerable diameter!!
