Trans identifying help

I was given a bellhousing and trans but I'm not sure what type it is. If I remember right the guy told me it was out of a 88 ford truck. It is a 4 speed trans with the 4th gear being a OD. The tag on the trans has this on it. It apprears to be all aluminum. Any help identifing this would be helpful.

Has a top shifter does it? TOD or top mount OD, one of the variations of the 4 speed OD's from the '80s.

First is about 3.27, first to 2nd ok, 2nd to 3rd is the Grand Canyon, 3rd to 4th is ok.

First ones up here:

Your bell is probably the 300 six/small block pattern.

Yes it has a top shifter and it does fit the small bock / 300 six type motor.

The truck I'm thinking about putting it in is a 1982 F100 shortbed with a 300 six and 2.75 rear gears. Do you think it would work? I not sure if the motor could take the OD with that low of numerical gears.

I got me a tach to install in it today so I'll know what rpms the motor is running at. Currently it still has the original 3 speed trans. I think I'll try out the 3 speed and see how it does before condiering the trans swap. The only time I would consider using the O/D would be on the highway. Most of my driving is in town.

You can go here and plug in your tire size and axle ratio along with the final drive of either 1:1 for your 3 speed and 3rd in the OD trans, or .80 for the od hi ratio to see what your mph rpm looks like.

Are you meaning the automotive calculators here on this site? I looked at the different ones and didn't see the one you were describing.

Sorry, forgot to post the link. There are other calculator links posted around the site, I like this one as it works several ways and has a tire size deal too.
