We have picked out a color for our 86 Eddie Bauer Bronco. It is called Golden Teal Metallic. It is on the 2007 HHR's. (you know, the PT Cruiser wannabes) I just wondered if anyone could get the paint code for me so I can go get my paint.
I just painted a semi for a guy and I used the cheap single-stage O'reilly's paint. I think it is Acrylic Enamel. Nason, I believe. I liked how it shot, finish is great (for his dusty shop).
Also, what color primer should I shoot on it before topcoat? Thanks in advance for any help!
Hmmmm what kind of paint do you want? Basecoat? Acrylic Enamel? Urethane? What brand would you like it in also? heres a website for some color, Autocolorlibrary.com I am not 100% sure if they will have a color this early but wouldn't hurt to check through these guys.
Anytime you're using a lighter color or really want the color to "pop" color wise, it's best to use a white sealer under your basecoat or single stage whichever one you choose. If you're using a darker color you can go with a tinted primer so it matches closer to the true paint color making rock chips a bit less noticeable. You should be able to call a local GM dealer and tell them the color you're looking for and get the actual paint code which can be cross-referenced into any paint system you plan on using.
I just shot- well, see first post. I like the Nason acrylic enamel that we got at O'reilly's. Single stage, shot nice. Not too awful high dollar. I just need the paint code so I can go price/get it.
I asked while I was there about the paint I want. He asked if I had the paint code, and I said no. He laughed and pointed to a row of paint chip books, about 10 of them, all about a foot thick- hence the reason for the question.
As I mentioned before, you can save yourself looking through the books which really isn't all that hard since you know the year and model of vehicle, but if you call a local GM dealership and ask for the parts department, tell them what you're looking for and they'll tell you the GM code.
Ok, here goes. I did some looking on both DuPont's and Sherwin Williams automotive websites and looked at the GM listing for the 2007 HHR. Unfortunately none of them list a Golden Teal Metallic. I'm thinking your best bet is going to either be checking with a GM dealership or maybe swinging by one to see if they have one on the lot.
Thanks for searching. I looked for 2 hrs. on more than one night and everytime I found something to show what I was looking for, that was the only color that they didn't list. Again, thanks for trying!
I R confused, how did you pick out the "Golden Teal Metallic". From where? Who layed the "Golden Teal Metallic" moniker on it? I haven't got a clue how to help you as it seems you have plenty of knowledgeable help already, but I'm wondering from reading these threads if you have the correct paint name and applicable vehicle, as it seems to me that if you did, you and Indy_Gearhead 71 would have had success already. Just a thought. By the way, I just recently found out about the O'Riley's paint and want to thank you for the review, I'll probably shoot my truck with it now.
Nason has been around for a long time, several different parts stores have carried it over the years and in respects to a single stage paint, it lays down pretty well, carries a decent shine and has good durability to it.
The name of the paint comes from Chevrolet's own website. I saw the car, in traffic, close to my house. I have since went to the site and looked up 2007 HHR, and the exterior colors it is available in, thus learning the name of the color. I even found an HHR forums board also, with a complete thread on "Pics only" of each of the different colors. I have no desire to join up for just one dumb question, and I sure wouldn't want to own one. I'll end up stopping and looking at a dealership, or I'll get into a professional paint store, or an O'reilly's- and I'll look it up. I was just messin around lookin for it a couple nights, and thought it was a little wierd that I couldn't find that info. I am amazed as usual at the amount of response I am even getting for such a minor thing. I really do appreciate it though.
Just out of curiosity, has anyone looked at the color? And what do you think that will look like on an '86 EB Bronco with the tan?
I R confused no more. Don't blame you on the forum thing, you are on the best one already. Haven't seen the color, but if it can make a Chevy look good........
I am gonna try putting the address below that you can look at the color. Make sure you look at the whole page cause the good pix start about 1/2 way down the page.
You're in luck my friend, I found it. Apparently they only used it on the HHR in 2007 but it doesn't show up in the color books for the 2007 model year and 2008 books aren't out yet. So, I looked up that particular color and it's now being used on the Equinox, well according to GM it is,,,,, anywho the paint code issssss (drum roll)

Just give any paint manufacturer that code and they should be able to mix it in whatever type of paint you need.
