I have never seen any turbos or blowers for the 300, only for the V8 applications. I have one with 170K miles on it and I love the motor, but it does need more power. Mine is a 1987 EFI engine, and with a K&N filter, no convertor and a hooker muffler it is still way too slow in the midrange. Mine is a 4x4 with a 3 speed OD manual trans and 3.08 gears. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Check out a vendor called Turbo City at www.turbocity.com They would be your best bet for a turbo or supercharger for your motor. If a kit is not available they can probably make one for you as they do lots of custom work. They are also very friendly and helpful people. good luck!
i have a 300 with all the bells and whistles. All the Cliford Goodies. I saw a blower in the back of Cliffords catalog but i called the # and it didnt work. Go figure. But it has a pic of a blower for the engine. Dont know if it would work for EFI but you can probly call and see what they have....i would also like to konw if you found anything.......also if you have a chance to get the headers and a 270 degree cam for the engine.....do it. it works great. I also have the 4bbl carb and intake. I also milled the head .05" too. It really lit that 6 up. I run 33's with stock 3.08 gears and it moves....cant imagian if I had 4.10's or 4.56's!!! hope i helped!
I checked with Clifford and they suggested that I contact SMS Auto Services in S. California. After talking with them I decided to go ahead with a turbo. It is not yet complete, parts are holding things up. They estimate (with assistance from manufacturer's engineer) that HP will increase from 150 to 250.
SMS's number is 909-686-3293. Talk to Jerry and tell him that the guy with the '92 Bronco sent you.
sounds like a plan to me. I would like to see how that set up works. Also give me a ballpark fig on what it is going to set you back. That is a big factor.....also...i have a carb engine. Does it only work for EFI? could i get one for the ole 4 bbl too? i am planning on going with a 351 anyways but this might change my mind if i can get some more ponies out of the 6 pack. FYI: got my HOT 6 up for sale if anyone is intrested. ok...im out!
