I am running a TCI adjustable 4-bar on my 56. There is nothing that I don't like about it.

The ride height is fully adjustable by way of different holes to bolt coilovers into.

The ride firmness is controlled by adjustable springs.

The pinion angle is easy to set.

Easy install, and allows for a underbed gas tank if you want.

I'm running the same TCI kit on my '53 and I like it as well.

It doesn't even compare with a leaf spring setup. It's worth it just from the standpoint that you will no longer have axle wrap that you would with a leaf spring setup. If you are going with any sort of a modded engine, I would go with a 4-bar setup. I like it

Of course we'll have to go with the polished stainless setup...

One more thing crossed off the list...

I am also considering other options, if I understand this correctly the 4 bar setup will eliminate the rear springs. Making it totally adjustable. I do not plan on hauling anything heavy, just some bagged wood chips in the spring at the most.
Also how much does the TCI set up go for? I am also considering the front end mustang II setup. Thanks

ya, thinking of totally rebuilding the 55. front and back but not sure, i get tired of spending so much money, you know how that is. some how my thumbs turned green while working on the 57, and i'm not even a gardener
i feel like an addict, going to bed with this stuff on my mind and then waking up thinking about it.

I installed Air Ride Technologies parallel 4 link suspention. The panard bar came too long for the brackets they supplied. I called them to ask what I should do and they said that they could send a shorter bar at an additional cost. I decided to build my own brackets using the longer bar. A longer panard bar is better anyways.

Question Updating...

Yesterday I got another Speedway Motors catalog in the mail & on
the back cover they have an interesting looking (to me any way) 4-bar
set-up minus shocks...have a look...

Here is a link with the description: Heavy Duty Rear Four-Bar Kit

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with THIS unit...

Just gettin' the design & engineering details finalized BEFORE the truck
comes apart because like I keep tellin' myself..."I really only want to do this
ONCE"...if I say that enough times, will I eventually start to believe it?

I'm looking at going with the four link as well and like the TCI unit. Since I'm not familiar with the four link and am knowledgable on the leaf suspensions, is this something I can install? or is it better to have a place do the installations of the four link? Would I have to C notch the frame or modifications to the bed? Thanks everyone.
I found this article on the TCI four link. Looks a little more complicated than I thought!

Ed, if I can do it so can you. I found it to be a very straight forward installaation.

All my welding consisted of me tacking things in place, and having one of my buddies weld everything up.

I wouldn't recommend trying to do it with the bed in place, in fact I don't think it can be done that way. ( having said that,I'm sure someone will prove me wrong).

You have to c-notch the frame if you want to go low. There are different mounting positions for the coil overs to adjust ride height. I used the prefab c-notches from mid-fifty.

There are a couple of photos in my "pretty sad truck" and also in my "progress pics" albumns.
