HELP PLEASE 300-I6 Dipstick
This might sound stupid. But I just bought an 80 F-100 300-6 and the dipstick is not attached. At the oilpan where it is supposed to go it looks like there is some kind of a compression fitting in the side. Does anybody know is there an insert in there like a standard compression fitting or what. All I know is that is is losing alot of oil out the hole and it makes it rather difficult to check the oil.

The later model blocks had two places on the block for the dip stick and they where just press in o-ring sealed. one toward the front the other toward the rear behind the oil filter. I have seen them in the pans. maybe the engine has been swapped and things are quite put togather right.

Just wanted to update the motor is the original. the previous owner had broken the dipstick off in the hole thru the oilpan. It has a bulge in it and a nut that holds it in the pan. Was able to still order it from ford. :7

HELP PLEASE 300-I6 Dipstick
Anyone know if there is another motor's dipstick that will work on the 300? Mine broke when the engine fell over in the back of my truck and I was thinking a nice shiny chrome stick/cover/whatever would look real nice.
