Fog Light Dash Switch Mod

My buddy bought a 2003 Super Duty and he is wondering how to modify it so he can turn the foglights on with the parking lights. I know this has been covered on here but I can't find the thread with the pictures (I went back as far as 2003). There were a couple threads that tried to link to instructions with pics, but the links no longer worked. I know you are supposed to take the switch out and I should see a ramp that causes the switch to pull back in, but I was really hoping to see some pics so he can do it himself as I am leaving town Wednesday for a week.

I have however found some good information that I feel I should include here to help out others who might be searching for foglight mods themselves.

You can replace your fog light bulbs with 9005 headlights to increase the brightness (I believe this is true for 01-08 trucks).

If you don't feel comfortable cutting on your headlight switch you should be able to replace the headlight switch in the 02-04 trucks with the headlight switch that has autolamps. Doing this will allow you to turn the foglights on with the parking lights. The part number is 2C3Z11654DAB.

Fog lights with high beams for 2003-2007 trucks<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

The Britebox is an add on box that allows high and low beams to stay on at the same time (like when you pull back on the turn signal stick). They also have one that keeps the fog lights on at the same time model.<o></o>

If anyone has a link to the headlight switch mod with pics, or if someone who has done this in the past could possibly take pics of their own switch and post it here I would appreciate it.

On my 04 the foglights will come on with the parking lights, just not with the headlights on high beam.

Elee3, I believe in 02 or 03 they started allowing the fog lights with park lights if you had the auto lamps option, but trucks without it couldn't turn them on. I think in 05 they allowed it without the auto lamps option. Do you have the auto lamps option?

71-4R3SONS, my first link pretty much does the same thing as your link. They just cut the wire rather than taking it out of the connector (pretty much the quick and dirty method they talk about).

BTW, what happened to my post? Somehow a bunch of "ffice" text and >> got added?

I've got an '02 with the auto lamps switch, but my fogs will still not come on with just the park lights. It was built in 10/2001 though, so that could be the problem. I've also done a bunch of searches in regards to the ramp mod within the switch itself but with no luck on the pics. The only thing I've found was a link to a webshots pic that shows several pics, but no before/after and they don't have any descriptions. The links didn't work on the old posts I found.

Have you had any luck???

Beerstalker, I just noticed that I didn't answer your question. Sorry, I missed it somehow. I know it's 4 months later, but the answer is yes, I do have the auto lamp option on my 04.
