Please ....I hope someone can help. I have a Ford F 250 diesel and every time I get the RPM's up, A stinky fish smell comes through the air vents. I have taken it to the shop many times but noone has been able to find where its coming from..
First when they diagnose again, try tellin the chick you brought home from the bar the night before to get out of the truck! ha ha ha. Thats' wierd man the ester oil in your a/c system smells like fish but obviously that shouldn't be leaking. Unless you pissed someone off and somehow whoever managed to stuff some sardines infront of your blower motor, The ester is the only thing i can logically see causing it. good luck with it and definitely let us know what you find
I once had a car with a stinky smell and a ticking noise when I used the heater fan. Turns out a mouse invaded and got caught in the squirrel cage fan. As it rotated and blew in dead mouse air its tail would hit something and make the tick, tick tick.
Did Your Heater Still Work..... Or Does It Stop Working When The Core Goes Out...beacause Mine Works Okay.
It still worked, but after a couple weeks it would start to blow "fog" out of the vents...constantly. I was driving around with my window's down freezing my bum off
Im not saying that this IS your problem, but it's definately something to look into.
Yea but ATC you would have had a syrupy (not sure if it's a real word) smell like maple syrup as opposed to bad trouser trout. ha ha Not doubting you but just tryin to help him diagnose i've seen a bad heater core a crap load of times and that's what i've noticed. I was a tech at a freightliner dealership here in jersey and i'm certified fully in HVAC and it sounds something along those lines.
I read recently (don't remember if it was this board or another one) where a critter had crawled up in one of their systems (I believe the turbo system) and died. He couldn't believe it could have fit through the opening, but I'm telling you, even a fairly large mouse can get in some pretty small places. I told them of the story of the rabbit I scared out from under my shed while mowing the lawn. In it's frightened frenzy, it went straight into one of the little 2" square openings in my standard chain link fence. It got about halfway through and got stuck. I couldn't pull it back out, so I kinda helped it, but it did squeeze through that little opening. Start checking places where little critters (mice) can get in and see what you can find.
I had a large mouse get into my air intake tube on my last truck. When I finally found it, the mummified mouse remains were basically welded to my air filter. A dried up corregated mouse looks kind of cool.
I never noticed that "dead mouse" smell, but I'm sure the people behind me smelled something odd.
