well i been thinkin (never good) and i thought what i could do to my exhaust. i was thinking about taking off the 1st cat and running dual 2" pipe into flowmaster 40 series (maybe delta flows) into 3 or 3.5" tips. has anyone did this? and would i loose some bottem end tq? and what would i do with the oxy sensor?

I removed the 2nd cat and replaced it with a High flow cat from Extreme flow technologies and then put a Flowmaster Deltaflow 40 series mufflewr behind that. I used 2.5 inch pipe all the way from the manifold to the Highflow cat and from it to the Flowmaster and all the way out behind the rear wheel.(Stock Location) No tips for me!!

I would imagine that ELIMINATING the CATS would make it a little louder, The Tips would do this too!!

It sounds GREAT, Nice throaty rumble at idle and the Beefy V-8 sound under acceleration.
I gained some lowend torque and a little more on top end also!!

im actually the one who told u about doing that since i have the same set up minus the high flow cat, if u dont recall. im just wondering about getting most bang for the buck and seen the v-8 guys running that set up and wondered how it would work for us.

from what im understanding, the second cat would be the one to remove or hollow out, then use 2.5" pipe to a muffler of choice. better yet is dump both cats and get a highflow one. these combos would mostly help in the high-end, but power should increase throughout the rpm range. hope this helps a bit.

If you can't get away with choppin both cats, then either take off one or run a single high flow.

I am with you rhetor. Backpressure never helps power. How can it help torque to push backward against the piston when it is trying to expell the spent gasses? Now proper exhaust tuning and separation of exhaust pulses from consecutively firing cylinders can and does help torque.

I'm wondering about the 02 sensor. Does it have to bee where it is factory, in the cross pipe, or can you just put it after a Y pipe if you remove the front cat?
