A couple of nights ago I stopped by a place to get something to eat with the kids..... Seeing as you can't always park a CC Long Bed in just any space, I pulled off to the side of the lot that had a little slope to it. (front end higher than back). After we were done, we hopped in the truck and pulled out onto the road and about 300 yards later my truck jjsut fell on it's face. It lost all power, started missing, etc., etc.... I limped off the road and sat there for a few minutes. the truck would idle farily smooth but missed when I revved it and if I put it in gear it would not move.
At first I thought I lost a transmission. But, with the engine missing I figured it was more engine related.
Needless to say I had a buddy tow me home and I let it sit for the night... On the way home I went back past where we had been parked and it crossed my mind that with the way the truck had been parked on the slope, maybe it had water in the fuel which had settled and was the first thing picked up because of how we werre parked....
The next day I added a couple of bottles of Iso-Heat. I started it up and it ran rough for a couple of minutes and then seemed to clear. Took it for a drive and everything seems fine...
Anyone else ever experienced 'water in fuel' problems????
Get in the habit of leaving a giant truck fuel tank at least 3/4 full all the time if you can... this time of year condensation inside the tank can be an issue... the more inner surface area the more water can condense out of the air .... you probably need a new fuel filter right now if it was a water in the fuel issue....
There is a good product by the name of Iso-Heet® Premium Fuel-Line Antifreeze & Water Removal. I just put 2 bottles in yesterday when I filled up. I will continue to put a bottle in each month until spring. That and keeping my gas gauge on the full side has solved the water problem for me. <o></o>
