hi, i have 3 v10s , no problems with plugs , one is at 120k . my bro. had one go on his '00 was easiy fixed with a insert. almost a while you wait fix, barry
Thanks for the reply Barry . I posted this mainly because I'm very interested in my friends 99 F-350 and it has the V10 in it . Is there any rhyme or reason when this happens ? Like after the first plug change etc.... ? I read at Consumer Reports that the number 3 (? )cylinder plug hole only had like 3 or 4 rounds of thread in it from the factory . Does the insert address the short threads in the factory hole ? Am I worrying way to much about this ?
Thanks

Actually all 10 plug holes only had 3 or 4 threads...not just #3.
82,000 miles on mine and all 10 plugs on my '00 have stayed in place. I've changed the plugs twice but didn't stop to count how many threads were in the heads.
I did know a guy that had one "strip the threads" in a Chevy 350 head and blow the plug. How in the world can you strip the threads in the head of cast iron block...and not know something was wrong. I am sort of worried about that guy, though.
My 01'spit one right after I bought it (used) four years ago. Some one had replaced the Motorcrafts with Bosch plugs. I replaced all 10 with the correct Motorcrafts and have had no problems since.
