ok. I need some clarification on somthing. I have a t98 trans in my truck. is it actually classified as a 4 spd or is it classified as a 3 spd with a granny low????? because to me its a 4spd cause ther is 4 forward gears. just need that clarified. thanx
Only later did the manufacturers confuse things by calling transmissions with five speeds-- four speeds with overdrive (My 5 speed 92 F150) or the four speeds with overdrive from the 70s--that were four speeds with a fourth gear that was overdrive.
Came across this short article some time back, probably of little importance but may find interesting. Have a T18 and although considered a 4 speed, for me it's a 3 speed with a compound low because rarely if ever use the first gear.
