I have a 93 Explorer with a bad shake and bounce between 65-70 in the front end and I can’t get ride of it. The shake started 2yrs. ago. Since the shake I have replace tires, rims, shocks, ball joints all 4, front axle u-joints, rotors, bearing and brake pads. And I have had the front end aliened and tires rebalanced. Every little thing seemed to help a little for about a week then back to the same old shake…. I am at a loss.
My front sway bar link was broken inside of the plastic housing. It looked good from the outside. You may want to just to replace them as you have replaced everything else (low $). Check the back to.
the idler arm that bolts to the frame under the radaitor, and has a steering rod to the left wheel and right wheel from there--- had a bad bushing on my F150 and would allow the front end to shimmy when at high speed. i had front end a couple inches off the ground and wiggle tire back and forth while someone under the radiator looking at "everything".
What helped me tremendously is three things: Make sure there is no excessive play in the steering box, the wheel bearings need be to TIGHT, and new rotors. Also, a good quality tire. My wheel bearings have been tighened three times over the last few years. It seems to make a noticeable difference. As did new rotors.
