Staying with a product line you know
I have driven Ford truck since the 1940's and couldn't even guess as to how many miles I have put on them. The old used 36 did well if you kept the straw out of the gas tank, so we bought a 1948 special order truck. With our 1948 Ford, 2+ ton we had the extra heavy duty suspension with factory frame plating. The manual transmission and 2 speed rear axle made that a wonderful rig for that era. We worked that one HARD from the long highway trips to hauling potatoes out of the soft freshly dug fields.
A history of no problems with that one anchored me in the Ford "family". HOWEVER
My latest experience with the 2005 F350 6.0L diesel is sure giving me "a bad case of the hives".

Cause of hives is:
The ABS system works when it wants to and though it has given trouble since about 2000 miles, they will no longer cover it under warranty.
The EGR coolant tube blew and they replaced it, but they apparently did not read the TBS's which points to other causes which include electronic turbine control problems and blown head gaskets.
Now the head gaskets are bad, so it sits in the shop for another week or two.
Not a happy camper
