Talking the old 41 lives!!!

so, finally dad and i had a few down minutes to work on the 41. she's a firetruck with 7,500 miles on her. she had been sitting for at least 10 years (not even started) and so i drained the gas tank and added an in-line fuel filter. dropped in a new battery and then tried to start her... nothing. dad and i pulled plugs, checked the coil (which was good), but there was no fire getting to the plugs. we then opened the distributor and sprayed an electrical spray cleaner in there, then closed her up. i tried cranking her again... nothing. dad pulled a plug wire and i turned her over again... (he was hoping for a little spark... but wait... she tried to run!) he popped the plug wire back on and i gave her one more try. YAY!!! she's running again! but then dad say to shut it off. something about the exhaust doesn't sound right. (he had repaired a couple of exhaust leaks WAY BACK WHEN and forgot... he was expecting a louder engine.) we felt the exhaust pipes (previous owners converted to dual exhaust with cherry bombs) they were warm. so, i fired her up again. dad still didn't think it sounded right, so i gave her a litle more gas... he said "what's that?" i looked out of the cab at the rear of the truck and something was coming out of the exhaust... it was DOG FOOD!!! it was coming out like a shotgun. every time i revved her up... woosh!!! more dog food. mice had packed both pipes with the stuff.
i know, long story... but she fires up every time now. i'm cut the exhaust off just before the cherry bombs and put on some smithy's and begin brake work (hopefully this week!)

ps. if anyone knows where to find brakes, master cylinder repair, and wheel cylinder repair parts for the 1 1/2 ton... please let me know!

Good stuff glad to here it. I'm looking at a 46 fire truck I used to have. I plan to strip all the Fire stuff and make a big long pick up out of her.
