05 F350 noise after shut off
Ok, I know this has probably been covered before but I want too be sure. Yes, I have searched and think it is just the injectors doing something. This is my first diesel, just bought it two days ago. When I shut my 05 f350 off it makes a buzzing sound from underneath the hood for 15-30 seconds. My neighbor has an 04 and his does not. Is it just some flash that mine has or should I be worried? Thanks again.

adamsre,
This is the "buzz flash" that cycles the injector spool valves to prevent "stiction" and cold start issues. It is used to increase the injector life. The "buzz flash" has been re-placed by FMC with the "Inductive Heat" flash which electically heats the injector and oil around the spool valve at start up. The "inductive heat" flash will accomplish the same thing as the "buzz" flash
International still uses the "buzz" flash on all there trucks with this motor, while FMC decided to switch to the "Inductive Heat" flash. Time will tell if one version is better than the other.
Do not let the noise bother you, sleep well and drive your truck like you stole it.
Your buddies truck does not make the noise for one of two reasons:
1) he has not had is truck serviced at his local Ford dealer in a long while and does not have either flash strategy.
2) he has the most recent "Inductive Heat" flash which makes no noise during operation.
Hope this helps

No funny is being at a party with 30 drunk folks and telling them to come outside.. Turning the key over and back off and telling em to go ahead and open the hood.. Just watch out for the rattle snake.. I've seen some guys run.. I made one dude **** his pants when I yanked the hood open and said WATCH OUT!.. LMAO.. I think he mighta poop'd too.. Kinda stunk..
