2005 F-250 SD CC SB Lariat 6.0 PSD. I'm averaging around 17. I have a heavy foot right now too as I just purchased her. I have 285/65/18's also. No towing yet, 40% highway. MBRP Pro series Cool Duels to come and should help that number a bit.

The 03 4x4 drw cc lb 6.0 gets about 16.8mpg 80% highway. Just got back from a trip and got about 19.3. The 06 4x4 sc sb 6.0 gets about 19.8 on a trip about 80% highway, 3.73 gears. But depends on how you drive, I like 70mph to 80mph.

2005 LB CC 4WD City driving only, last tank 14.91 mpg. Minor mods listed in signature. Still better than the Dodge Durango R/T it replaced.

You have to understand there are many variables in fuel mileage, truck configuration (ie, Std or Crew cab, LB or SB, 2WD or 4WD, Auto or Stick) gearing, transmission.

To make a blanket statment that most 7.3L are getting 19+ is a stretch at best.

On the trucks in my sig, i get 14-15 in town, 16-19 Hwy empty and 8-12 towing mixed City/Hwy.

Fuel mileage is like underwear, style, color and condition will vary significantly with each user

My truck works hard 95% of it's life pulling our 17k 40' fifth wheel. I average between 8.0 and 9.5 towing. I never drive it empty long enough to keep track. My average towing speed is 63-68mph. Truck tows amazing and the 5spd transmission is top notch. My last truck was a 2002 7.3 CC LB 4x4. I used to tow a 33' 5th with that that was 4k lbs lighter. It used to get 7.5mpg on the same trips. The 6.0 5spd trans tows WAY better. The trans in the 02 got REALLY hot many times. If the 7.3 has an upgraded transmission then it would be a great choice as well.

My bad, you are totaly correct. I failed to mention, 1 of my buddys have an 02 f250 cc rebuilt tranny new torq. and hes a fast driver hell get 19-21 in town depending on how hes driving and 19 when he was pulling his 25' attitude, this is according to his "lie -o meter" which i assume is the onboard computer. and my other buddy has a 02' extended cab four door. His is chiped and when hes got it stock is when hell get the best results, around 19 also.

I just returned from an 1800 mile round trip from the east coast of NC to Mississippi and back to the coast. My 04 F250,PSD,CC,SWB,FX4 averaged 18 mpg at Interstate speeds, about 74 to 76 mph. That is NOT using the lie-o-meter but figuring miles traveled versus gallons used. I have to admit though the lie-o-meter isn't off much.

I'm gonna' have to go with the friends' lie-oh-lot... I had a 7.3 configured just like my 6.0, and with bigger tires than my 7.3, my 6.0 gets better mileage in all situations...

But as others have posted, there are other reasons to look at the later trucks than just the engine, the newer auto is hands and fists better than the old one, and the newer suspension is just awesome ('05+ 4x4). My '07 F350 SRW has a 11,400# gvwr, where it's 9900# prior to '05...

Just keep doin' your homework and get what suits your needs best... I loved my 7.3, but I love my 6.0 a lot more...

Note the truck in the sig, 14.9 in daily driving...mostly short trips. When I hook up the tandem axle car hauler...it drops to 14.6....still beat the heck out of my 92 150 w/351.
