Exhaust For A 07 4.2 V6 F150. Looked At Magnaflow And Some Other Sites And They Only Make Catbacks For 4.6 And Up. Whats The Deal
And Is There Anything I Can Do To My Exhaust??
No worries dude dont even look at the kits unless you wanna do it yourself but they only make kits for certain engines and vehicles so if you want exhaust on that v6 it will have to be custom made either by muffler shop or you if you have the tools experience etc good luck unless there is a kit out there for the v6 that i dont know about..
The exhaust system on your 4.2 should be the same as the other engines. Any of the catback systems should work just fine. Just FYI, Gibson confirms this on their site.
I had the same problem with my V6 and I had my local muffler shop instal a new flowmaster 50 series siso. It exits in the stock location with a stainless steal tip. Came out to $135.00 for everything.
I reccomend the flowmasters for the V6's because imo the others, like magnaflow, make it sounds like a giant weadeater. Im really happy with the sound from mine. It could be louder but I like loud exhausts. It sounds good with the 5 speed, and sounds deeper than most V6's but not quite like a V8.
Not The Biggest Flowmaster Fan. Ive Been A Pretty Die Hard Magnaflow Man. Im Looking For The Best Performance Exhaust. Of Course Sound Does Matter. And I Know Its Hard To Make A V6 Sound Good.

Does Anyone Know Of Any Sound Clips From A V6?
It was just my oppinion but they all perform well. I was just telling you what sounded best on the V6, in my oppinion. The only thing that some people don't like is the Flowmaster drone from the original 40's, I personaly love it, but my 50 series doesn't have a drone.
Totaly Understand Just Heard The Sound Clip From A 4.2 Gibson Exhaust And Did Not Like It At All. Sounded Like A Ricer. Lol. Thanks For Your Comments Bud And I Totally Appreciate Your Opinion. Im Gonna See If I Can Get A Sound Clip Of The Flows.
that was the best sounding one yet i wonder what brand that was..? it was the dual pipes out the back maybe that made it sound better. thanks for the sound clip.
It said it was a flo-pro muffler. I have never heard of it. It sounds kind of like a flowmaster to me. Idle sounds the same, but the rev up is a little different.

Thanks
I just got the same truck on April 30th. Put it up on the lift to take a peek and was surprised to see that both down pipes were 2-1/2" and they merged into a 2-1/2" tube going back to the muffler. BTW, the merge is nicer on this truck than my 07 Expy EL.
I ordered a Magnaflow 12286 from my distributor today so I should have it on next week's delivery truck. Once I get the muffler in I'll measure the center/offset difference and then I'll be able to finish my drawing for the new tubing piece between the merge and muffler. I'll take some before and after pictures of the install.
I wanted to try this first versus going 3", which may be a bit much for a 205 bhp engine. I'm hoping it will help the mpg which is still 16 mpg. I can't believe my 2007 6000lb Expy with the 5.4L gets the same city mpg.
