trim rings and shinny moon covers
Hey Fellas and gals? Simple question....I want to buy trim rings for my 53 ford f-100 wit 15 inch rims... will trim rings fit on most any 15 inch general rim. I bought a set of 15 inch rims and tires from Les Schwab while I was building my rod and now its go time and the rims and tires are in good shape but they are just plain. I want to add rings and shinny moons to these.... can I ???? Thanks DJ and Happy rodd season as its is here....YA

The old style 15 inch beauty rings will fit just about any wheel. I put a set on my 87 Chrysler wheels. The baby moons are a different story. It depends on whether the wheels you bought have the nubs needed to fit baby moons over and if you can find some with the correct diameter for that particular wheel. Some wheels (like snow wheels) have nothing to hang a hubcap on.

Ford offered two styles of trim rings originally. One is plain, the other is fluted. Instead of baby moons, why not use the original "gennie" Ford hubcaps, which are chrome with blue Ford letters. 6A-1130-A . These have been reproduced.

Vern is correct. You have to know what caps your wheels will accept. If nubs are on inside then early style caps fit, if on outside they require later style. If you can use early caps you have a multitude of options. If not, then you will be limited to the early fifties Ford caps or true "Baby Moons". Joe

6A-1130-A hubcaps were original equipment on 1948/56 F100's. The caps were used originally on late 1947, and all 1948 Ford passenger cars. Inside mount.
The previous Ford passenger car hubcap can also be used: 21A-1130-A RED Ford Block Letters 3 red slash marks above letters and 3 red slash marks below letters. Fit 1942/46 and early 1947's. Cap is the same diameter as the 6A cap, and mounts the same way.
Hubcaps that Joe Gaddy is refering to: 8A-1130-A (1949/50) 1A-1130-A (1951) BA-1130-A (1952/54) Outside mounted ~ Passenger cars.
Outside mount = wheels have raised tabs outside of the center section.
Inside mount = wheels have raised tabs inside the center section.

Check my gallery to see trim rings on my 15"'s. They are "fluted" (if that is what the grooves on them are called). I have "outties" with the nubs on the outside. I went with '57 Galaxie hubcaps on the rear. Still looking for a set for the front, although I'm not sure if they have enough clearance to fit over the hub dust covers.

Mine are the stainless reproduction ones, but I like the look with the cheap chrome trim rings anyway. Someday, it may go back to original (when I get rich).
I have the inside nubs for the caps. I think they stopped that style in 64. These are 15".

Sorry abe, but my 1948/56 parts book was the last one printed (1964), and Ford musta dropped the 2C number. Nothing new.
Regardless, I shoulda looked in the Merc book before I posted.

Bill, are there any part numbers that you can't find? I mean, really? You got it goin on in the part number department! I'm guessing when everything went to computer they threw out the microfische and it ended up in your basement.......

to see the '56 brochure. In my gallery I have a pic from a Ford Truck Clues.
I bought original hubcaps from a FTE member from Texas and they still had the red paint on the letters
I don't know why your books are showing blue letters. The letters were blue on teh 48-52 pickups.
