Well I would like spinners for my X but I am having trouble getting some because the lockout hub sticks out 3.5" past the rim. Well the spinners go where the hub comes through on the rim. So that creates an obvious problem. Is there a way I can just keep it in auto mode and cut off the extension that sticks out so its flush with the stock rim? I know I can cut through it with a plasma cutter but will that cause some major problems? Or will the hub just be locked in auto and that’s it?
um, no. the hub is what locks the front wheels to the axle shaft. it seems that you really want the spinners. if you want them that bad, remove the axle and get a 2wd axle beam from a doner truck.
I need 4x4. I am not talking about cutting the entire assembly off. I am only talking about cutting out the round extension that sticks out past the rim. The cylinder with the adjustment **** on it. I can post a pic of it if you dont know what I am referring to.
the answer is definately no. you are going to have to make a compromise. either 2wd or no spinners....personally, i'd ditch the spinners and finish the plans for your stereo....
Did not think people still used those. Those are kind of old but whatever floats your boat.
I had a customer that wanted the same thing, (years ago).
I machined the centers out of a set of 24" spinners to clear a 4wd hub assembly. I then used a bearing that would clear the outside diameter of the hub. It was a real chore because bearings that big do not like to spin very easily, but I actually made a couple of sets. Have to tell you that it was very very spensive. If you are really interested I am sure I can dig up some part numbers for the big bearings, but I still think that style is way behind us. I just don't see them any more.
hey spl, you have almost 500 posts. i, and i'm sure the rest of us would love to see your SHOW truck.. can you post some pics??? you never created your gallery.
The vehicle is not done yet. It won’t be for months because I am leaveing for the Navy in a month. I have about 60 progress pics that I could post though.

Do you have any pictures of what your talking about?
How did you attach the spinner to the rim if there is no center cap on the spinner?
