Okay I have a misfire in cylinder #3 and #4. I just replaced the IAC, TPS EGR valve, PCV valve, MAF, Plugs, Wires, and the coil pack. truck was running fine till 2 days ago. Now it stutters when I give it gas while driving, idles rough, and I gat a exhaust smell under the hood. I also noticed I have no pressure on the upper radiator hose when the truck gets warm. I think that could be the thermostat. Would that cause a misfire? I wouldn't think so, but what do I know. I'm new to working on cars. All these sensors drive me nuts.
well first off does the oil look ok? is there water coming out your exhaust? is the coolant level ok?the reason i say this is if you have no pressure in the upper hose i want to make sure that you dont have a head or head gasket problem once you rule that out can you pinpoint a place where the exhaust is making noise in the engine compartment? are the gaskets ok? is it loud?
yu say you changed the plugs did you put aftermarket ones in? I made sure i put the same plugs ( same brand and part number) as the originals cause it seems some plugs work out better in rangers than others same with the wires there have been more than a few posts here about problems with plugs and wires that were just replaced with an inferior brand
another stupid question none of your wires are touching the exhaust are they how about vacuum lines or any of the electrical harness? if heat has melted something that could do it too
