I recently bought a Bosch performance O2 sensor for a 1989 460 MPI I'm dropping into my 78 F150, and I wanted to buy an aftermarket Auto Meter Air/Fuel mixture gauge to go along with it.
However, it says that this gauge, by itself, only works with narrow band O2 sensors. If you want it to work with a wide-band, you have to buy an additional sending unit for $91, which I'd like to avoid.
I called Bosch to ask them, figuring they'd know, but they told me it was neither......?
I googled narrow/wide band O2 sensors and on wikipedia they said that narrows were used in the late 70's to early 80's - but they didnt have fuel injection on (normal) cars then, at least not Ford....

I found more info on wikipedia, and it tells me that there are only a few vehicles using wide bands, but still no way to tell the diff... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxygen_sensor
