Explorer intake question...

What years of Explorers had the 5.0 GT40 lower and upper intakes? Also will everything bolt up to my 92 F-150 302 motor. Will using the stock throttle body of the explorer hurt anything either. Figured both of the explorer intakes and the throttle body I would be set...

If I remember correctly the explorer intakes face the pass side like a mustang while the trucks face drivers I could be wrong however.

All 5.0 explorers used the GT40 intake. It's pretty easy to find out which years those are using Google. The inlet side doesn't matter because the upper manifold can be rotated 180° on the lower to place the inlet on the drivers side. The only issue possible with using the explorer throttle is whether or not your truck's throttle linkage will mate to the explorer throttle and you might have to swap the TPS. Pay attention to EGR too because I think the explorer fed the EGR from the passenger side exhaust manifold, which your truck does not have provision for. The car GT40 intake manifolds had an internal exhaust crossover much like the stock truck intake manifold.

Okay well right now I am not using the EGR valve and really don't care if the EGR is functioning at all to say the least so I could probably block the egr port on the explorers upper manifold. Now I was who has done this modification with either the explorer or mustang GT40 intakes? I can get the parts really cheap at a local salvage yard and would like to know what all parts I need to buy to get this modification to work... Do I really need to upgrade the intake manifolds to make up to 300hp? I figured the stock manifolds are good up to 300hp?

Just read back through some of the other threads you have started about this topic. It's been discussed many times to great lengths. Another possibility is to search the forums and find a user who has installed a car-style intake manifold on their truck and send them an email or private message to see if they can give you a detailed parts list. Google can also be an amazing resource, but don't immediately trust something you find on google unless you see it in several places.

Here's a good article on the Holley systemax heads and Explorer intake. You'll have to subscribe to read the whole article but just like this site it's not a big deal and you have access to tons of good info. Everything from everyday driver questions to racer data.
