A friend of mine just bought a ford pickup that was registered as a 1947. The '47 doesn't have the ridges on the side of the cab and doors as this truck does.. (according to pics from fomoco website) Is there any way to find out the year with the vin#. The vin# is L23238. At least that is the number stamped on the firewall right under the (unreadable) plate on the drivers side.
Hi oh2nice, That number doesn't appear to be the vin #. The vin # would appear on the title. If you don't have a title, the vin # is stamped on the clutch housing, and can be seen when the transmission cover is removed.
Vin # For 1947:
The first symbol should be a "7" (= 1947)
The second and third symbols indicate series (GC= 1/2 Ton with six cyl; 9C = 1/2 ton with V8)
The last six symbols are the sequential production numbers. I hope this helps you.
