Has anyone seen a 36 ton and a half Cab and front clip mounted on a later model one ton or ton and a half chassis?? Thinking of dragging the old beast home but the chassis is in sad shape and I think mechanical brakes and I thot it would be cool to mount it on something else somewhat newer. I know its done with the 1/2 tons but what about full figured trucks??
LAST EDITED ON 16-Oct-01 AT 01:01 PM (EST)[p]Thats right but I want to mount the old cab on a later 1 1/2 ton chassis and I was looking for suggestions. Thanks for your input
please let me know what you find out and I will do the same I just bought a 34 1 1/2 ton and an 88 f-450 to do exactly what you talking about but it will be spring before i have the two side by side to decide which frame gets the old body and newer drivetrain. my goal is a streetrod rollback for my motorcycle.
In theory it would seem to be a lot easier to remove the cab from the late model chasis and bolt on the old cab. The only immediate headage would be the pedals and it its an automatic so much the easier. Hopefully the fron clip would fit on. The better handling of the newer components would be the way to go.
However, being in california, I am inclined to want to use the old frame so I don't have to worry about smogging it assuming the DMV ever figured out what was going on. But then I'd have to move a ton of parts.
Over on the picture side of this site there's a 37 Ford truck sitting literally on 76 GMC Chasis. The original 37 frame was left on and trimmed to mount on top of the GMC frame. Explain that to DMV.
