I have been watching the Barrett-Jackson auction on the speed channel and have wondering how these guys can justify spending so much money on some of these vehicles. I figure they got more money than brains. If anyone watched Overhaulin on the learning channelwhen they redid the hummer donated by CNN and named it Warrior One to honer the troops serving in Iraq/Afganistan. The big money guys really stepped it up and bought the truck for $1,000,000 with another bidder adding an additional $250,000. Craig Jackson waived any and all fee's. All the money raised will be donated to the Fisher House to help provide support for families of soldiers wounded in combat.
Can't believe the Super Snake went for 5,000,000... especially since the 600 HP engine was blown shortly after it was built, sold for 7,000, new smaller engine installed, completely destroyed in another wreck (even killed the driver), and completely rebuilt using as much of the old car that they could, but not so much...
Its basically a totally different car.. I hope the poor guy that bought it for 5,000,000 knew all that before he spent that much..
wow...didn't know that, jeff5683...5,000,000 was nuts...add that info in to the picture and I am even more amazed that folks have this much money to blow.
I just want to clarify some misinformation that I gave out. The super snake was not the one that was wrecked and totally demolished. It was the same year and it was the CSX, but that one happened to belong to our good buddy Bill Cosby. He sold it cause it was too much car for him, and the guy that bought it ended up killing himself... THAT one was rebuilt from mostly new parts, not the super snake.. the super snake is mostly intact except for the engine has been replaced or rebuilt.. Maybe its worth 5,000,000 after all?
(all this was in the same article I read a few weeks ago, I guess it all get mixed up in my screwed up brain)
