Has anybody here installed aftermarket wundhsield wipers on their '40-'47 truck? I have an article on using wipers from a '67 MG, but was wondering if anybody has used any other kind of system. I want to get rid of the vacuum wipers on my '46 and I'm looking for ideas.

Is this truck converted to 12 volts? I used a brand called Specialty Wipers athat has worked extremely well and gave me 2 wipers instead of the original 1 that I had.
Yeah, I converted the truck to 12 volts long ago, (gotta have 12 for the stereo and other power goodies). I'll give them a try and see what they have to say. About how much was your system? Also, does it use a cable to connect the 2 arms under the dash, or is it a linkage system?

You can use the Specialty Window unit (I think I called it Specialty Wiper before) over or under the windshield. It's a cable unit, and can be wired for intermittent use as well.
I just finished putting wippers on my 40 pickup with the wippers from a 40 Ford car. It took some work and bracket fabrication, but works good. If you only need one wiper, that would be a fairly simple installation and would be a lot cheaper. If I had to do it over, I would go with a single wipper because I don't plan on driving in the rain that much. A very good sorce for 1940 Pickup parts, to include wiper systems, Bob Drake, Grants Pass, Oregon.
I've seen that option too MC68. I really want to add a dual wiper system to my truck since it's a daily driver, rain, sunshine, heat and cold. I think I had seen using '40 passenger stuff on a truck in an old issue of Street Rodder. Thanks for the reminder of using that system, I'm looking at all options right now.

Bootie, most I can remember is that the article was in a magazine called Hot rod Mechanix that is now no longer printed. I have the magazine, but it is back in Arizona in my storage unit (I'm in California now). Maybe somebody here might have the mag it was in. It was installed in a '46 that was being converted to a 4 door crew cab by Toby Brown of Huntington Beach, CA.
Street Rod Builder had an article on '40 Ford wiper system in April or May /04 issue. I believe the unit came from Mr. 40's Ford Stuff in CA. Cost somewhere around $280 for dual wiper with all new parts, new chrome towers, arms and blades, intermiten type. I'll grab the mag and give you the exact info if you need it.
I was at the Street Rod Nationals last week and noticed Newport Engineering had a new product introduced for 42-47 Ford trucks. It is a complete turn-key wiper system that utilizes the existing wiper holes (they just have to be drilled out a little larger) and the motor mounts under dash. Looks really cool and can even have an optional washer pump mounted to it. System costs about $330. I've got some paperwork on the system if you can't find anything on the internet.
Did a google search on Newport Eng. and found a supplier called RJAYS who sells the product, as well as products for Direct Sheetmetal which handles floor boards and more for '40 Ford Pickups. Here's a link :
had a look at that problem is $330 turns into nz$700 by the time u get it here and thats a lot to pay for a set of wipers so more interest in what people have robbed out of other cars than new systems
As I mentioned before, Street Rod Builder ran an install in the JANUARY, 04 issue Pg. 110, on the installation of a Mr. 40s Fatstuff two speed wiper install. Kit includes new towers (2) , long arm, wiper bracketery, and two speed motor w/ switch. This is an under dash assembly that appears to work well in the confines of the 40 Ford dash with operating cowl vent. Check it out.
