I have been trying to identify the specific model of myt 1939 Ford pickup. I, as well as others using this site have been frustrated with decoding their vehicle's VIN to determine exactly what model they have. Unfortunately, if the information that I've just received is correct, we are out of luck using VIN.
I just reveived reply to an inquiry I sent to Sandy Norarianni, Historical Consultant, Ford Motor Company of Canada as follows:
"Unfortunately prior to 1946 all Ford vehicles were registered by motor number (no separate serial number) and all I can tell you is that this number {referring to my truck's VIN} is a US built truck engine built for the 1939 model year (BB184661001 to BB185210700). I cannot tell you what truck that engine went into...."
If anyone has information other than this, or knows of any means of identifying whether my 122 inch wheelbase truck is 3/4 ton, 1 ton or ???, I love to know.
