As I'm getting to the point where the interior matters I ordered a RodDoors headliner kit back at the beginning of December (an XMAS present)..
For whatever reason they couldn't ship the durned thing so I gave up the week after XMAS. I ordered a set (headliner and back panel) from QuietRide.
Now I gotta say, I am fighting a wobbly snake.. This thing is 1/16 thick, and doesn't have clips as part of the package.. so YOU gotta find some way to hold it up during the test fit..
2 hours in and I have given up for the day. Can't do it by myself.
This is the big piece with 2 ears down by the windows in back.
Have NO idea how we will get it installed once the cab is painted without scratching everything.. sheesh..
It sounds like you need more hands for sure, got anyone who can help?
I guess I would think about using one of those big-headed, push-in wire fasteners that were stock on kick panels and all manner of other things, on each side, about midway back above the doors. These allow a fair amount of movement, but you'd want to be pretty close with placement. With each side supported you can then pivot on those supports to line up and sink some other fasteners.
I recently did my headliner, but I bought the one piece from Mid fifties. The headliner was easy as it was the one piece ABS plastic headliner that simply snapped in. No rubber trim etc. The problem I had was putting the side panels in near the rear window. They didn't fit well and didn't sit flush with the headliner itself. I decided to use a small screw on each corner to hold the plates down. I took it out again and had an upholster cover the the entire headliner in suede. I had to fabricate a piece for the back panel from peg board and foam for the strip under the rear window. I don't know much about your kit, but my kit was easily install with one person.
I guess my mistake was ordering direct from Rod Doors instead of MF. Mine is ABS one piece too (with the wings in the back corner).. but it doesn't have enough body stiffness to snap anywhere!..
