Hello all. Total noob here, I've had my truck (63 F100 Flareside) for a few years, but all I have done is upgrade the front brakes to disk and a few minor cosmetic things.
I am now looking into upgrading to power steering and am seeking guidance of where to start my parts quest. I am admittedly not mechanically savvy, but I have a mechinic that loves to work on old fords, so he said if i rounded up the parts, he'd help me install them. So here's the deal, its a '63, but it has a 460 out of a '71 lincoln in it. Which power steering components should I be looking for? Also, the steering is SUPER loose, so I'm sure i need to replace the gearbox too?

n10z, This topic has been covered quite a bit on this forum. If u look through some of the history, u should be able to get some info on this topic. Also, I googled ur question just now and see if this helps: www.classicperform.com. It appears to be quite expensive but hope it helps. My understanding from viewing this question on this forum is that there is no quick fix to the conversion. Just a suggestion, do a quick google search and see if that helps any. Some have done complete front end clip replacements to changin entire steering linkage to do the swap. I've also read the swap being done by using a toyota steering box and using other machined parts. Hope this helps and just be a bit patient with responses. Hope this helps. And YES this is the best place for Fords!
I hope to put power steering on my '64 as well but will most likely use the one from the site I gave u. After reading into this for quite some time now, I think it would be my best option considering all the alternatives and lack of time that I have so that I can do it on my own.
