Question My question on 66 Slick core support

Please educate the dummie. My core support is totally gone, but that is the only bad rust on the front end. My radiator is held is place by 2 big bolts on each side, and seems very firmly locked in place. So what purpose does the core support provide?

That is not a dumb question - but the answer is found in the name of the part. It is the "core" supporting the rest of the front end.
It holds the inner and outer fenders up and apart, supports the radiator, and stabilizes the hood.
Once it is all bolted together, the entire front end supports iteslf as a composite whole, but without the core support, it would never come together.

and the answer is...

Answer from this Dummy Fenders bolt to core support, grille bolts to fenders, lamps bolt to grille.

The core support...supports far more than the radiator core.
