I know of a 49 Ford 1 1/2 ton in Aberdeen running all in all a solid truck used last year in harvest. Also has a 54 1 ton with a flathead running. (would a flathead make it a 53?) 2000 each.
Here it is again, hope this works better. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...64029208QQrdZ1
In Canada Ford/Mercury cars/trucks used the Flathead till the 55`s came out I believe, we were a step behind the US.
Kansas is east of Montana, past the Dakota`s and south of Nebraska. About 1 1/2 long days drive. Nice flat boring country though, good roads and no mountain passes.
my uncles 56 mercury had a six in it, but im sure it was a flathead.....
It should have been an overhead valve by 1956, I don`t recall seeing any Ford Flathead sixes in Canada. Unless they came over from the US as used vehicles.
okay, the only thing im sure is that it was a six, i havnt seen it for a few years now, and the last time, i was really only interested in the cougar sitting with it. trucks were'nt cool back then man.....oh how times have changed
