I have acquired a 56 F-100 from a guy who used it as a work truck in his house painting business. It has been repainted several times (the last two were done with a brush or roller) but the interior color is original.
I have read the posts regarding VIN decoding for the 56, but my color code is a "W" and is not listed on any that I have seen. The interior is a light pastel green. I am not restoring to original, but the color is unique and I think it would look good on a custom truck. I am also curious as to why this code is never listed.
Thanks for the input.
The information that I have found so far says that Seafoam Green (color code "G") is a 1953 color. In 56 they had Meadow Mist Green (color code "G") and Meadow Green (color code "U"), but no color code "W".
Could it be that my ID plate was stamped incorrectly and should have been a "G"???
Could it just be a double strike of 'U'?
Or, when did they start stamping them with 2-digit paint codes for the two tones? That could be 'UU' also...
