I just recieved a headlight switch for a 53-54 F-100, however I ordered one for a 55. This is my question after attaching the wires all lights work except the park lights goes out when I turn on the head lights. The will stay on as long as the park lights are in the on position. I placed a jumper wire from the two B's can anyone tell send me a wiring diagram or tell me where the wires goes I think maybe something is wrong.
Thanks
It should work fine that way. I did that and also took the old single filament bulb socket out, and put a dual filament socket in. Then I was able to incorporate the turn signals into the parking lamps.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-Feb-02 AT 04:31 PM (EST)]I posted this along time ago, but I will mention it here again, since it worked so well. I did change the taillights to dual filament too, and ran extra wires for the turn signals. But a big problem arose because a vehicle that was made for turn signals, has a complicated turn signal switch which also handles the brake lights too. To get around this, I used one of those adapter boxes you can get for hooking up a trailer.
This box which you can get for about $12.00, takes seperate turn signal and brake wires, (cars and trucks with seperate amber turn signals) and combines them to use on a trailer with regular single brake/turn signal set-up (good ole two red lamp set-up).
I had an add-on signal switch that clamps to the steering column (any kind of switch with a flasher would do).
Then I mounted the box under the dash, running the wire from the brake lamp switch, and the two wires from the turn signal switch into the box. Out of the box goes the wires to the taillamps(the front turn signal lamps hook directly to the turn signal switch). It worked good. The box makes the decision of both brake lights coming on, or which one to make start blinking with you hit the turn signal switch.
I just finished doing a complete rewiring for my 55 and was sent a headlight switch for a 53-54 which is different so I just wanted to know if anyone knew the correct way to wire it so the park lights stay on with headlights. I was told they didn't so I hooked a jumper to the tail lights and everything works fine, front park lights while the headlights are on.
