I'm trying to figure out what color my 50F1 was originally (there's very little of the original paint left). It was a sort of light green shaded gray. I'm guessing it's Silvertone Gray but maybe it's Palisade green? I found the color codes posted here and on 48f1.com but does anyone have a picture of these colors (on a vehicle or a paint chip)?
Thanks,
Dan
Did you look on the inside of the firewall under the insulator? That usually is still intact. If the color is a greyish looking green, then it's probably Meadow green. This was the most popular color that year. I've torn apart alot of the 48-50 series and most were originally this color. A good place to look for paint chips is on Ebay. I've seen a few lately, but they tend to get bid up higher than I'd want to pay. I'm still looking myself for some. That's the color I am painting mine.
Hi, saw your discussion on paint chips. Does anyone know the name of the stock "red" color for 1950 F1/F2? I believe my F2 interior is still the original paint. Thanks.
PS, I called my local auto paint shop and they claim that they have color chips going back to 1950 but I will let you know.
I agree with Barry...the best place to find original paint is on the inside firewall...kind of dark up there though. Usually the inside glove compartment door is ok as well. Hey the Vermillian color is super cool. Not at all a candy apple color...the best red I have seen. Good Luck....I know the colors can be matched though. jim
