Title ? can I get one ?

I bought some land a few years ago . There is a 64 swb on on the place thats been there for 15 years .. Body is great but can't find owner . Last land owner said it was there when he got the place . One before that has passed away.
Can I get a title for it ? Thanks

Best advice is to call the DMV and see what they say. Most likely they will require you to file for a lost tittle. If the previous owner is still listed they will try to contact them during the lost tittle process.I had take my old '60 f-100 truck to be inspected by the CHP in CA and produce a bill of sale. It shouldn't be too much of a hassle though.

LEIN sale it! It has been stored on the property for several years.DMV will try to locate the owner but if Texas is any thing like CA. then after 4-7 years of no registration activity then it falls out of the system. Then all you have to do then is fill out a statement of facts stating that it has been on your property for "X" amount of years and the owner is long gone.

Your best bet is to contact the DMV. I dont think you can get a lost title for it but even if you do, you will need to find the original owner. I'm an attorney in Texas and can tell you that if you can't get the info from the DMV or need help, I'll be more than glad to help answer questions you may have. e-mail- mezajd@yahoo.com Hope I can help. You can file for lost title here in Texas at the tax office. You will need the last owners name but you can get it at public data .com.

If you need some additional help. Try this company "Broadway Title Company" 1-800-464-3222, thier out of Birmingham Ala. The state I live in is very tough to get a lost title etc. but this company will produce a Bill of Sale after they do all the research and verify pass history, then you can recieve the Bill of sale and get it change over to your state's title. Alabama didn't produce titles before 1974; just BOL's.

My advice: Don't approach it as a lost title; treat it as an abandoned vehicle.

I don't know about Texas but in Kansas you would have to do a 'Quiet Title Action'. A Quite Title Action is basicly a legal action by you to 'quiet' any claims to the property. Once that action is complete with not claims, the state will issue a title in your name. I would recommened getting a lawyer, costs a couple of hundre dollars.

I went through the same thing not long ago in Austin on a '67...contact the DMV as described and they will hook you up! It was real easy to do, just took some time. Kinda scary how easy it was.

I must have over a hundred titles for all kinds of rigs that I scraped over the years. They worth anything more than stating fires in the wood stove?
