I am going to be in need of some parts here quickly that I cant find from my local aftermarket suppliers, or in one case, the aftermarket piece is $$$$
I am forsure going to need both engine mounts as mine are busted and not available in the aftermarket, but I am also going to need a clutch fan, but its almost $300 canadain plus tax in the aftermarket...
Am I best to phone Ford for these as the mounts bolt to the ford frame? Does it matter for clutch fan?? Ford in my case happens to be closer and I got 20% off for shop discount... But I know that often the international bits ar just cheaper.....
My experience with the fan clutches is to go with OEM. The aftermarket don't seem to unlock as well. The price might be higher, but the fuel savings will even out pretty quick. No idea on the mounts, never had to change any.
I just bit the bullet on the clutch fan ........Ford is best in my book, IH would be similar I think, they have reputation to protect too. Yes they are expensive but so is a new engine/rad/trans lines etc should something drastic happen.
Have you tested it yet..... I have the Fan Test if you want it....... email me... click on my name.
I have a new one, the owner is a friend of mine and he told me his price had almost doubled in the last six months.
Fortunately he had one in stock, if I had to order it it would have cost 400+ dollars.
Since the one I got was in stock for almost a year I did get a lot better price than that.
the mounts are like $50ish each... not big deal at all... but the clutch fan was like $50 cheaper from ford!!!! Once I actually test mine, I will be getting it from ford....
