cigerrete lighter and cell phone charger stopped working

Does anyone know why my cig lighter and cell phone charger stopped working. I changed the fuse but it did not help the problem. I dont smoke but I love to charge my cell phone when I go hunting overnight. thanks, Brian

was the fuse actually blown? is the one in there now good? i have seen a couple times in the past that people sometimes "drop" coins in them accidentally, and it keeps popping the fuses.... just a quick thought.

coins do go in there perfectly. take out the fuse before you take out the coins.

i bought my 99 ranger used and the clown who installed the stereo cut in to the lighter/aux. power to power the stereo, so now lighter/aux for me. i'll fix that when i replace the engine.

Hello Matt and Khadma thanks for replying so fast. The fuse I replaced was never blown. I bought a box of "20 mini" for the problem but they did not do anything. I looked over the fuse I removed and it was not damaged. What else do you think it could be. I am racking my brain trying to figure this out. The Cig lighter never gets used but the charger is used oftenly.

try posting in electrical systems and wiring
you may not get an answer until tomorrow. it's pretty late.
someone should have a schematic for you to follow or better yet a solution.
you should get your self a manual, i have one for all my vehicles.
how do you know your cig/aux is not working, could it be your phone charger (fuse)that is not working?
does the lighter work? did you try it?

Did you check the fuse in the charger itself? Some chargers have those.

Check the contacts that plug into your phone, and check the contacts in your phone as well, making sure the pins aren't bent. If everything looks good, and the red or green (whatever colour you have) light comes on when it's plugged in, and it doesn't charge, it's probably time for a new charger. My wife's on her second car charger for a year old phone. I'm still on my first one.

I tried using the cig lighter but it doesnt heat up

I have tried using the Cig lighter but it would not heat it and when I plugged my power cord into the Aux component the light on the power cord would glow either. I will post in the electonics dept and see if they can help a desperate guy out. Thanks, Brian

'not sure on the 06(don't have my truck nearby) but does the cig lighter use a different fuse than the "Power Point"? I know that you cannot use your cig lighter element in any of the powerpoints as it will blow the fuse. Only other thing would be to pop the panel off and see if the wires are still plugged onto the back of it.

I found out my 04 F150 has a power point Aux located in the center console facing the back seats. I found that power point is still alive and I am able to use it to charge my cell phone. I would like to find out what fuse runs this power point. This would make me think Ford may have this power point using the same fuse position that is called out in my owners manual as the fuse to run the cig lighter and front power point(aux). what do you guys think. Brian

Open the fuse box. There is a map of the fuses inside. That, will show you were to look.

Also, the thread you posted on is 7 years old.
