Questions about potential donors for IFS swap
Giving me McPherson strut suspension, power rack and pinion steering and front disc brakes.
Standard A-arm style suspensions arm typically used as donors for several reasons. Strut style suspensions often have been engineered using thin stamped steel. The angles and even the body of the vehicle have been engineered to keep the IFS in their straight. When you use a M-II, a Volare, Aerostar etc you are basically removing the entire clip intact. Strength issues are easier to solve. I am sure someone could figure out how to use almost any donor clip. Unless you are very gifted at fabrication and have some engineering knowledge of the IFS donor in question, I believe the tried and true methods would be best for something as important as the front end. Just my two cents.
