I have a 60' f-100 with a six cylinder and a four speed on the floor. Is there engines that will bolt directly to said transmission? I take it the mounts have to be addressed as well...
Well I will be the one to ask......which six is in it now? I can assume, which is always bad, it is an inline 6 possibly a 300 but most likely a...what was the earlier one a 240(?).
Anyway if it is an inline 6 then the bell housing will accept a 302/289, 351W. That is if you are wanting to go to a V8. But there is more than just bolting up to the tranny............. mounts, rad, flywheel, exhaust to name a few.
If you just want to upgrade to a 300, if that isn't what is in there now, you can use most of the "goodies" from the older engine to do the swap.
hope this helps.....and if anything above is wrong or a little off will someone please correct me :-)
im pretty sure anything would have a different bellhousing- if you get a different bellhousing you should be able to use the existing transmission... but yes if you change the engine you will have to get different motor mounts... what is your proposed swap?
