Question sway bar

Hi everyone, my friend has a 65 f100 1/2 ton that is a parts truck. I was taking off the spindles and drums for my 66 when I noticed that the donor truck has a front sway bar. My truck has no front sway bar, is mine missing? The sway bar bracket is also the bottom mount for the front springs. I dont have the brackets on my truck. Should I grab this item before it ends up at the crusher. Thanks.

As far as I know there were not any sway bars for the 65 or 66, I could be wrong.
I would grab everything from the donor truck and add it to yours before it goes to the crusher.

Thumbs up

It all depends on suspension options a truck was or was not ordered with.
Towing Package & Camper Specials came with Anti Sway Bars, std F-100 1/2 ton suspensions did not thru 66. Later there were also trailer specials that can be retro fitted too.
Often the heavier Anti Sway Bars from heavy F-250s & F-350s will bolt right up also if "sway" is a problem. . . . Some of the later 73-79s came with rear anti sway bar set ups also. I believe trailer specials appeared in 68 or maybe 69. So there are towing package suspensions, trailer special suspensions, as well as heavier F-250 & F-350 suspensions to choose from.

In some applications you may have to adapt or create link brackets on radius arms of earlier and/or lighter F Series trucks, but it's no biggee.

Jon,
If you think power discs made a difference towing & going down hills around bends etc., or hauling wieght or top heavy slide in camper, then you'll hardly believe what front & rear anti-sway bars do for handling & added control.

When I pipe off about 21st century safety, comfort & convenience as I often do, referring to retrofits using these upgrades is what I'm talking about. Puts our 40 odd year old "Slicks" right in the 21st century doncha see?.

Mater, From everything that I have heard, the bars make a huge difference in the handling of the truck. Grab everything that you can and install them under your truck.
