Post CD Player/ Stuck CD

Is there any possible way to remove a stuck cd from the six cd player that Ford offers? I do not really want to take the vehicle to a dealer. Any help will do.

I have an 03 EB. This happened once (actually twice in a row)for me. The door opens but the disk won't come out.

Here's what I did to get it out. I took a knife and gently put upward pressure (kinda like trying to lift it) on the disk. It popped right out. After that, it never happened. I don't know what caused it.

I have a 99 with the console changer. A disc stuck once - took the whole thing apart and managed to work it free. Fairly intuitive, depends on how mechanical/daring you are. Simple tools required, maybe a half hour task.

Disconnect the battery and then reconnect it. It will reset the system.

CD eject issues seem to be pretty common problem with these style radios. Mine had the exact same problem and I researched online and learned that resetting the head unit can usually fix the problem. Something to do with a bending plastic piece during ejection. I'm thinking about replacing the plastic piece with an aluminum piece from a friend who is a machinist.

I also have the same problem every time I try to eject a CD. I just take a credit card and push upward on it and it usually pops out right away. Good thing I have a 6 disc changer and dont really eject CDs that often.

I'm getting a "CD Error" when I press the CD button on my 6 disk changer in my 03 Expedition. Will try to use credit card or knife....and then disconnect the battery. So frustrating...

Common problem with the CD6. If the door is open you will be able to see the stuck CD. I use another CD and gently push the stuck CD in (that is toward the front, wont take much pressure, should move in a mm or 2). This essentially unsticks the stuck CD and it comes right out.

I want to thank SHO76 because I fixed my cd using his technique. The only difference is that I used a thin flat bar, like a rigid putty knife, and gently jimmied up and down in the cd slot, and it instantly worked. All cd functions are now OK, so thanks again!

I've got a 2006 F-350 with the indash 6CD player. Have had one CD in there for about three years; never removed it. Just bought a bunch more to add. Old CD came out okay, but got all jammed up on the second CD. Tried everything - all of the buttons, jamming a knife, CD, etc in there. Nothing worked. Would not eject what was in there, take any new CD's, or play them. Would just whir for a bit when I turned the truck on.

I always had the engine on when I was messing around trying to fix it.

I decided this morning to work on it some more, so I got my letter opener and flashlight and got in the truck to get to work.

I turned the key on to "accessories" (did not turn the engine on), and tried to eject the CD's in there. They came out perfectly. I got them all out, and reloaded six CD's. Everything plays and works fine now.

Even works with the engine on.

So...it may have been just a fluke, but if you're having trouble, try it with the engine off first.

I'd be interested in hearing if this does work for anyone else.

stuck cd

I have a 2002 Mustang with a 6 disc cd player. One day out of the blue I got a cd error and the discs would not eject or play. I could hear something going on in the cd player but would then get an error message. The door to the cd player wouldn't open either. I removed the radio/cd player from the car. I then removed the cd player from the radio assembly. I took the top metal half of the housing off by removeing a few small screws. I then gently moved some of the parts and the cds around with my finger. I then reassembled the radio/cd player assembly and reinstalled it in the car. When I turned the ignition on the radio went through a little initialize sequence. I then held down the eject button and the cds began ejecting. I then loaded the cds back and everything is working fine now. I don't know why it did that but I'm glad it's working now. Maybe it's going to do it again. Only time will tell.
