Hi folks, In putting every thing back to stock, I have not seen anywhere where I could find a replacement Speedometer gear for my 45 ford half ton pickup. It does have a 4 speed transmission. Anyone got one to sell or know where I can get one? Thanks. Will post a picture when I figure out how to do it.Thanks, Dave
Is it the worm drive gear that you are looking for? I bought one of these about 10 years ago its an original Ford N.O.S. in the box one. I will have to do some loking to see if I can locate it, but I know I have it.
Second question or is it the driven gear, if so how many teeth does it have?
5 Star. thanks for the reply, I have started from the top down so to speak. And have eliminated failure causes from the speedo head all the way to the transmission. I have not done that yet as I am not sure how to proceed. But if I am going in I would like all new to put on this so the speedo will work and I will be down a minimum of time.
Not to sure on this but I believe that the worm drive gear goes in at the back of the transmission. It is held in with a "C" clip, and you can replace it without removing the transmission.
Again don't quote me on this, just a thought that came to mind on a similar job. Then the driven gear sits atop of that on the exterior of the trans case, where the speedo cable goes into.
