I just bought a 37 Ford 1/2 ton pickup, and the hood has some minor problems.
I was wondering if there is someone out there that may be able to help out with some advice. Where the hood hinges, some of the rivets have come away and are now gone. Second does anyone know just how far the rod that holds the hood to the cowl, and rad support goes through the hinge?
I know that Model Ts go through the complete hinge, but then again this is not one.
Would appreciate some input or advice if someone has an answer. Thanks in advance for any and all replies.
Thanks for the reply, I think your right on the similar hoods. The part that I am interested in is how the hood stays or is hooked to the top of the rad shell, and the cowl.
I have the 2 pieces there that are fastened on with 2 screws each, its the rod that I can't figure out.
Sure would help if you could give me some info on it, again thanks for the reply, much appreciated.
Off my radiator is a bracket..has two holes in it.
In another box I found a "bracket" with a hole sorta, in it, that looks like it would blt to the bracket on the radiator, then the rod on the hinge would slide in to it.
I have those 2 pieces that you are refering to, that go on the cowl and the rad top.
Again the question I was interested in was does the rod go completly through the hood hinge and into the 2 pieces at either end, to secure it to the truck so as it can be opened properly?
I see, gotta ask me 3 or 4 times before i figure out the question, I had though you just wanted to know how it mounted...mines not mounted, so cant comment.
Hey, I appreciate the thought and thanks for it. Looks like I won't need the answer to this question for awhile. Just found out that the front cross-member is busted, and the spring came on up through.
So it will be laid up for awhile, probably engine work as well.
