I'm looking for some input on Aftermarket AirBoxes. I have a 2005 PSD with a Banks 6 Gun tuner with the PDA and docking station and the 4" MBRP cool duals turbo back exhaust! I didn't install anything yet, waiting for a weekend off work. My question is there are some many airboxes out there and just wanted to know how everyone feels about the products out there. I'm really looking toward the Airaid. Thanks again for the input! Chris

Reason: change wording.
I just installed the AFE stage 2 last week and all I can say is WOW. The performance increase was very noticeable and I picked it up for $360 off of ebay. From what I saw- no other sytem could make the claims of the AFE 70 HP and 55ft lbs of torque. You will feel it.
i am also running the AFE with proguard 7 filter, but only a stage 1, but modiied by me. The hp, torque gains are mostly at high rpm's, so a lot of it is wasted. most people on here will tell you to stay with the stock one. i am starting to run some serious hp and torque numbers and i needed the extra air, so i bit the bullet.
Thanks for the input guys! I'll read up on the AFE. By the way I live right outside Pittsburgh. I small town off 22/30 McDonald! Talk to you guys later!
I live 10 minutes from you in Scott Twp. I use to ride my quad all the time at the old slag mines out by the mousetrap. Good ol game commission put an end to that!
my two cents on the AFT stage II...didn't do anything noticeable for me. I was running stacks and superchips 1805 and felt no difference between the stock box or AFE. Now I'm running the SCT...no difference there either. I say difference as in seat of the pants feel....nothing for me.
I have an Airaid on my 05, and it does a very good job. The AFE is also very good, but they are having problems with the stage 3 setup. The stage 2 will give you 18 hp. LINK AEM also has the Brute Force intake that comes with the Dryflow synthetic filter that never needs oil. You just was and dry.

I have a very hard time believing that an air intake system will give any engine that kind of power increase, much less an engine with an already very efficient air intake like the 6.0l.

i'd have to say the same. unless the filter you replaced was seriously jacked, those are some pretty big numbers for an intake.

Patrick ment to say stage 2, AFE has yet to invent a stage 3....lol
I have a guy on a 10 week waiting list from AFE (Chris at AFE is who we dealt with) and the guy has a 03 with a chip and exhaust that ran great, but he decided to go the next logical step and do an AFE stage 2 system from us. He installed it and now the truck instantly went from great running to running terrible off idle, or from part throttle when you stab it. Afe says the symptoms are classic to the small percent of trucks that have this reaction, but that there is such a demand for the new tube kit that the wait is about 10 weeks. So, its a great product, great support from AFE, slow delivery of the updated parts if you are one of unlucky ones that need it.
I am seriously looking into one of these. Locally many dealers are selling a "stage 1.5" or as explained to me, the Stage 1 with the Proguard 7 filter instead of the normal Stage 1 filter.
Looking over the posted link I notice an increase in horsepower and torque at 850 rpm as compared with stock with a reduced horsepower/torque reding at the 2025 rpm mark. I also note that there is no large increase of horsepower/torque over the stock numbers, only where it is in the powerband.
A local dealer tells me that with the increased airflow the "check engine light" will come on.
Any 06 F250's with AFE Stage 2 have a check engine light on after installation?
my afe stage II blew the CEL and two codes, one for air mixture and the other for fuel..don't remember what they were. AFE folks stated they working the "fix" with a new tube as a replacement part...they said it would take 8 weeks or so. There's been a few posts on this and no one seems to have gotten this magic replacement part even though it's been several months wait for them.
Hi Guys;
Here's my 2 cents worth. Last month I put a Fram Boost 2 on my 05 King Ranch, 4X4, LB. You can feel the difference right away, the stock system for the truck is like trying to breath through a straw, The Fran Boost 2 cost me about $200. It does seeam to work.
