Smile Predator Programmer

I have a question for the users of the Diablosport Predator tuner. What program seems to give the best results for MPG, and have you experienced any problems?

<o> </o>

Thanks in advance

I have a '05 and Predator with 65hp, great all-around performance and mpg, i have heard people over boosting with the 65hp so anything over that is just to much. The 45hp is good but i have seen better results w/ 65hp. No problems so far, but im not horse whipping it either. Watch your boost and egt, keep those out of the red zone and the problems should stay away.

No problems with mine. If you get the newest tune r13 or r14 I don't think overboost will be a problem. As you can see from my sig I run 100hp and I haven't seen the boost over about 27psi, but I don't stare at the guage. But you will want to watch the egt I have seen mine hit 1250 - 1300 degrees for a couple of seconds before I lifted so it is possible to overheat stuff if you put your foot into it and keep it there.

As for mileage I tested all of the tunes and found that the 100hp tune for me was the best. I get about 17.5 mpg on average. My drive is 110 miles all interstate, except for about 10 miles, with hills and 3 mountains I go over and I usually drive about 5-10 miles at lunch in the city. I cruse at 75 on the interstate.

Hope that helps.

I had a buddy that has the same truck as mine (05 f250 4x4) and we bought are performace package at the same time (intake, turbo back exhuast, and predator) i set mine to 65hp and he had to be faster so he went 100hp. If i remember right he over boosted twice (each time causeing a trip to the dealer with two weeks of down time) then his sh#t just stop running on him, no power, and ect. So he took it back to ford the tech called and told him his motor was shot and it was the first one they seen. So he payed the $500 and they were going to replace the motor everything going good. Then he received a called wanting to know if he wanted to pull the trigger on this $10000 worth repair. Of course he drove his a$$ up to the dealer and went stomping in the shop and the tech and service manager and a warranty inspector escorted him over to his motor they had sitting on a motor stand, striped down, while they started pointing at things that showed evidence that this truck was running aftermarket programmer. Basically focusing on the top of the piston and heads cause the unusual wear to those areas is dramatically different then the full colored pictures in the inspectors "how to tell if after market parts were the cause of the failure" manual. Yeah, my buddy is not one to be out argued, but he told me that there was nothing to argue about in that case. The book had pictures of cylinder walls, piston tops, and heads that had so many miles on them (he said the book had pictures with motor that had 20,000 miles to 200,000 miles) he said his sh#t looked worse than any of them. Then he turned a few more pictures that showed the same parts of the motor that came of a truck that had been running a 100hp plus computer programmer and he said that it looked like they took pictures of his **** and but them in that book. Hes lucky his insurance company doesn't ask to many questions and are going to split the bill. So im going to run mine at 65hp and watch how much i leave my foot in it because the boys are starting to smartin up. Just something to think about. If your thinking whats the differents between 65hp and 100hp just ride in one of each and you will understand why. Ford 4x4 6.0L with a hundred hp predator feels like it will ride a wheelie if it could catch traction. Anything with that much difference from stock isn't good for anything.

I have the 8r10 program in my predator and run the 40hp mode. I just went on a trip to Reno Nevada towing my travel trailer. Not a big trailer for this truck. Only 22 ft.Climbing up 80 my truck barfed out coolent. This has been a problem every time I run this program and tow. I don't push it hard at all. At the camp site I installed the original tune. Towing back home I pushed the heck out of the truck. No coolent barf. The truck did have less power but pulled just fine. I could keep highway speeds and better pulling up hills. I am going to keep this truck stock from now on. I know others have not had trouble running tunes but I have flirted with trouble long enough.

Bill have you had the recall done concerning the coolant bottle? If you haven't your coolant bottle was overfilled and when you truck heated up, it spit until it was at an acceptable level. I use the 45 hp towing a 31' tt and it spit a few times before this issue was addressed. No more spit!

Wiingnut, is the recall replacing the coolent bottle. If so I will check that out. I have done all the tricks and have had my radiator cap replaced 3 or 4 times. I have heard of bad head bolts and gaskets. I have a feeling I might be one of the lucky ones to have this problem. My truck has been in for all sorts of warrenty issues not related to tuner stuff like oil leaks and such. So I think it is time for me to play it safe and keep it stock. The dealers I have worked with have been very good. I have to add I love this truck. But I have played with fire, burned my fingers and now I am putting the matches away.

Bill the recall is nothing more than putting a sticker on the bottle showing you the new full and add coolant levels. I believe they said the bottle was mounted on an angle and if you followed the old fluid levels you were over filling.
