What does a 97 Ranger Splash look like?

I have no clue what one looks like. And honestly, I would like to know cause it valued slightly more than the regular short bed! I just brought my Ford and am so happy! I'm a little bit of country and rock~n~roll. I'm excited as to see what mods I can do with it. And what places I can take. I was so anoyed with not being able to do with my Ford Tempo as I wanted too.

And by the way does anyone know how many miles per gallon in city and on highway a ranger gets?

IIRC, splashes are the flareside bed, which means virtually no space to haul stuff in back. On the mileage, that will depend on your engine, tranny, rear end gearing, whether or not you have 4X4 and how you drive it. If you do a search in here, you will find a real LONGGGG winded thread on mileage.

"virtually no space to haul stuff in back" is a little extreme. I had a Flareside for over 5 years and hauled the materials for many projects in that time, including the lumber and 4 X 8 sheets used in my storage shed build. Granted the bed is smaller, but not a problem for most uses. If you need to haul big loads, buy a big truck.

They are both a tad over 6' long but flaresides are narrow and have a volume penalty as opposed to fleetside. Up until somewhere in the 90's you could get a standard cab ranger with an 8' bed.

*Interesting that you note that the narrow bed is a price adder. Where I'm at, they are tougher to sell and dealers seldom stock them. You almost never see one on the road here.

Well that is a really un-manly name for a type of trash. "Splash" Of course, I wish my truck were "splashy".

The Splash also came with body colored bumpers and grill, specific rims, power mirrors, and guage package were all standard. Splash package added 1,200 to the base price of the truck, at least according to the window sticker I have for my 94. Also the Splash had a slightly lowered and modified suspension, standard front and rear sway bars - those are from the 94 catalog

I do have some pics of it but have never been able to upload to the site.

also just went out and measured the bed width demensions. At the front of the bed and at the rear by the tailgate it is 43.5'' wide, space between wheel wells is 40''. those are off by a bit as i do have a liner in the bed. A regular ranger at the widest part of the bed is 51.2''

The Splash is a flare side bed, lowered suspension, handling package, color matched bumpers and grill w/splash graphics. I believe that the true "Splash" was only made from 93-97. There are flare sides after 97 but, I don't think they are a true "Spash, correct me if I'm wrong. I have a couple of pics of my 94 in my gallery, although wrecked.(working on right now, hope to have fixed up soon.) Hoped this helps. P.S. As far as hauling stuff, thats what my other 3 Rangers are for.

I had a yellow 1995 Splash supercab. It was my first of three Rangers and probley the best. it drove great, it was lightweight fiberglass and had the 4.0 V6 in it. I had 135k on it, and it drove like it was brand new. wish I never traded it in.
